From the Trees of Timberwolves Jerseys to the Impacts the Trees Have on the World

Image
If you are anything like me, you have seen the new Minnesota Timberwolves jerseys with the trees on them and how awesome they look. The reality is that trees have become a defining part of the Minnesota Timberwolves identity in 2026, and wood from those trees play an important role in our everyday lives. So we are going to look into the positives, negatives, and neutrals of wood and see how wood can stack up to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Positives of Wood Wood has become more commonplace in construction and in our daily lives, much like the jerseys. Maybe I am gushing over the jerseys, but I mean, look at how nice they look. The first thing is the usage of wood in construction. Wood has become more common and helpful for construction because “Wood is a great building material and is less expensive [...] than concrete and steel (Lesson 14.2).” This is further shown by a study done by Grand View Research, which predicts that in 2033, the market size of timber construction will rise ...

"All feedstocks, biorenewables included, have to be sourced from somewhere".

Have you ever thought about what alternatives to gasoline there already are in the world? Well, this is a perfect example of feedstocks coming from biorenewable resources. Feedstocks are the raw materials used to produce things such as energy, fuel, or products. Many times when we hear about these products, we may think about E-85, a growing trend in ethanol production as a cleaner alternative to gas,/ or using the extra pieces of lumber to supply energy for a sawmill, where the extra wood can offset up to 80% of the energy in the sawmill. (L.13). The key point about these feedstocks, however, is where they come from. No matter the type of feedstock, there is a need for land, energy, water, and other resources to create the feedstock.      The key thing to understand is what feedstocks are and why we are so reliant on them. Feedstocks can include things such as bioenergy or bioproducts. E-85 is a perfect example of this. Many families have switched to ...

Intended Audience: This blog is intended for people interested in Biorenewables and the average person with average knowledge. Why YOU, Yes You Should Care About Biorenewable Sources In recent years politicians have considered ending our reliance on things such as fossil fuels and other nonrenewable resources. So what does this mean for our future, what is going to be pushing us into a new age of sustainability and helping to combat global warming. One key thing right now is Biorenewable resources! Biorenewables are a great tool intended to help combat global warming and be safe alternates to things such as fossil fuels or certain minerals such as copper. But why are we turning away from these things in the first place? What is the Big Deal About Non-Renewable Sources? Non-renewable resources are detrimental to our environment and take a long time to decompose. According to Roadrunner's decomposition clock, it takes one century for a battery to decompose, plastic bags take 1,000 ye...
